Cameroon Cup finals: PWD against Fovu in finals

The Cameroon Cup finalists have been drawn after a sensational semifinal games this Saturday June 24, 2023 in Douala that saw PWD of Bamenda and Fovu de Baham advanced to the finals.

PWD earlier booked their final tickets after defeating Stade Bandjoun 2:1.

The Abakwa boys took the lead at the 20th minute after Leonel Ateba’s strike went behind the opponent’s net.

Suarez Patchou of Stade Bandjoun immediately responds at the 24th minute putting the game level 1:1 before half time.

PWD’s pressing and aggressive play in the second half yielded to a penalty which Tanko George converted from the spot handing the Northwest side the lead again and the winning goal.

The West Regional league club bowed out in their attempt to reach the finals, despite their dazzling form this season.

Fovu Club of Baham later pulled out an exciting show against Colombe in a 1:1 tie that will later prolong the game to penalty shootouts.

Colombe du Dja et Lobo’s 6 minutes goal gave them an early lead before Fovu’s equalizer.

The two side battled a one-all tie at full time before going to 30 minutes extra time that still did not bring a difference.

A phenomenal penalty shot out that resulted to a score line of 12:11 in favour of Fovu de Baham disqualified Colombe du Dja et Lobo from advancing to the finals.

PWD will be going in for a second Cameroon Cup trophy in their fourth attempt two years after defeating Astres in the 2021 finals.

Meanwhile Fovu who are two times Cameroon Cup Champions (2001 and 2009) will be looking to grab a third one as they stand to face PWD in the finals.
